ASCA: American Swimming Coaches Association

AWL: Athletes Without Limits

DSISO: Down Syndrome International Swimming Organization (pronounced “d-SI-so”)

FINA: Federation of International Swimming

LCM: Pool distance. Long Course Meters. International competitions alternate between long course meter and short course meter pools.

LOC: Local Organizing Committee

MQT: Minimum Qualifying Time

NFHS: National Federation of State High School Associations

NISCA: National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association

NSO: National Sports Organization. As the NSO, USA Down Syndrome Swimming selects the USA Down Syndrome National Swim Team for all international competitions.

SC: Pool Distance 25 yard or 25 meter pool

SCM: Pool Distance. Short Course Meter. International competitions alternate between long course meter and short course meter pools.

SCY: Pool Distance. Short Course Yards. This distance is only for pools in the USA.

SU-DS: Sports Union for Athletes with Down syndrome (pronounced “suds”).
